Kit Tsin founded Dao Lab in 2007. He is one of the few technology veteran with a skill set spanning a wide spectrum of disciplines ranging from mobile wireless network to video compression. Kit graduated in First class with numerous dean awards in London and Cambridge University and he left his graduate research to join the development of the mobile cellular network around the late 90s. Since 1999 Kit has found two successful ventures with US VC funding and acquired by US leading global multimedia platform vendor. 

 

The goal of Dao Lab is to develop standard compliant video compression products that can compete head to head with the best of the industry. Kit was involved in the development and advancement of the China AVS video standard during his close collaboration with the HKUST video CODEC team headed by Prof. Oscar Au and Prof Gao Wen of China Academy of Science. When the first version of Dao Lab’s video compression product, Volo, finally hit the market in 2012, Volo quickly got early adopter from leading local companies and events including the Oriental News Group, Hong Kong Economic Times and Metro Radio Hit Award events. It has won the best video encoder award of Latin America and today, Dao Lab’s video product has been used by leading media companies including TVB, and OnTap TV in South Africa. Dao Lab is also a global partner of PCCW Global and provide their video compression product to PCCW Global customer over the world.


Dao Lab's Volo video comperssion has won the Technology Innovation Award of the HKICT in 2016 and Application Digital Award in Latin America in 2013 respectively. In 2001, Kit was elected one of the “25 Asia’s Young, Wired and Rich” by the Asiaweek magazine in 2001 and spend his spare time in Digital Music
